The cluttered design and confusing navigation frustrated users, making what should have been a quick ordering process feel unnecessarily complicated. I set out to change that, redesigning the interface to simplify and enhance the overall user experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-kubio-color-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-1\">Understanding the Problem<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I first evaluated the original app, it became clear that the overstimulating homepage, inefficient navigation, and difficulty in finding critical information\u2014like allergens or calorie counts\u2014were the biggest barriers for users. Whether it was Sarah, a busy college student managing dietary restrictions, or Maggie, a working mom trying to satisfy her picky kids, the app slowed them down and made ordering feel like a chore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-kubio-color-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-2\">My Approach to Improving the App<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To better understand user frustrations, I conducted usability tests where participants completed tasks such as ordering a bowl with fried rice and orange chicken or finding allergen information. The results highlighted three main issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"has-kubio-color-4-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-3\">Overstimulating interface<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-kubio-color-4-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4\">Poor organization of menu items<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"has-kubio-color-4-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5\">Hard-to-access nutritional and allergen details<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Using these insights, I focused on a user-centered redesign:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Streamlined navigation:<\/strong> I replaced rows of text-heavy options with square icons that visually group items into categories like \u201cspicy\u201d or \u201cpremium.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Simplified homepage:<\/strong> The new layout reduced clutter, highlighting key features while eliminating unnecessary distractions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Improved accessibility:<\/strong> I added larger text sizes and nutritional pop-ups, making the app easier to use for everyone.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-kubio-color-1-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-6\">Testing the Results<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After completing the prototype, I ran follow-up usability tests with the same participants. The redesign proved to be a success\u2014users completed their orders faster and found the interface much easier to navigate. By introducing consistent visual indicators and intuitive pop-ups, I created a design that felt more user-friendly and polished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Want to know more about wireframing? The redesigned app not only functions better but also delivers a more enjoyable ordering experience. If these changes are implemented, they could set a new benchmark for fast-food mobile apps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moving forward, I\u2019d love to extend this design system to other menu categories and improve item visuals for clearer size differentiation.
